Key information

  • Application opened: 9 April 2024

Program Overview
The NSW Government, through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water, is seeking landowners and leaseholders interested in hosting public EV charging stations. By expressing interest, site hosts will be made available to EV charging providers for potential collaboration.

Eligibility
We invite landowners and leaseholders across NSW to apply and provide potential sites for EV charging stations, enabling developers (Charge Point Operators) to connect and evaluate these locations.

Funding Opportunities

  1. Fast Charging Grants: $149 million investment to deploy around 275 fast and ultra-fast charging stations across NSW. This grant ensures stations are no more than 5km apart in metropolitan areas and 100km apart on major roads and highways.

  2. EV Destination Charging Grants: $20 million to support regional businesses and councils in attracting EV drivers by installing destination charging stations throughout the state.

Start Your Application
Once funding rounds open, EV charging providers may contact you directly using the details you registered. If both parties are interested, a letter of intent or similar agreement should be signed. Note that the NSW Government is not involved in negotiations between you and the provider, and we recommend seeking professional guidance.

Expressing interest does not commit you to becoming a site host if mutual agreement cannot be reached. After agreement, the charging provider may apply for co-funding, with applications taking around 26 weeks to process. If successful, the provider will contact you to formalize the site agreement and handle necessary permissions, electricity connections, and charger installation.
